AMES was founded in 2019 by Director, Margaret O’Donnell, after three decades of experience as a Critical Care Emergency Nurse at The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne and a Flight Nurse in the travel insurance industry. Margaret’s commitment to patient centred care and support was recognised by her previous clients and she brings these attributes, together with a wealth of knowledge in repatriation planning, to all services AMES provides. AMES is passionate about ensuring our client’s needs are not only met but exceeded.
Margaret is supported by an experienced team of Doctors, Critical Care Registered Nurses, Mobile Intensive Care Paramedics, and a 24/7 operations team plus Travel Consultant.
AMES Medical Advisor, Associate Professor Andrew Silvers, is a Specialist Anaesthetist who has practiced in Melbourne for over 20 years. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Davis Medical Centre in Sacramento. Here he gained further experience in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and his position included significant teaching and mentoring of junior staff. In 2001, A/Prof Silvers joined Monash Medical Centre where he continues his public practice as well as appointments at many of Melbourne’s leading private hospitals.
In 2022, A/Prof. Silvers was appointed as inaugural Director of Anaesthesia at the newly commissioned Victorian Heart Hospital. A/Prof. Silvers maintains an active academic profile through Monash University as a speaker and lecturer and has been a co-author on several published papers and book chapters.
